In case you needed a reason to treat yourself to something tasty this week, let’s talk about skin foods — specifically Omega-3s. If you follow me on IG you might’ve seen that we just launched an incredible omega-infused moisturizer (shop it here!!!), that’s how obsessed with omegas I am.
First and foremost, why am I talking to you about snacks on a skincare Substack? Because what we eat can impact our skin from within. I know it’s obnoxious when people say the only thing you need for great skin is drinking more water, but truly when we eat good skin-friendly foods and drink skin-friendly things, the proof is right there on our faces.
There are many foods that benefit our skin, but omega-3s are some of the best. They have powerful anti-inflammatory properties that reduce redness and balance oil production, to name just a few benefits. So when you go grocery shopping this week, try to add a few of these to your list.
FATTY FISH
Like salmon and mackerel are rich in nutrients and omega-3s. Add olive oil for taste and even more skin benefits.
SARDINES + ANCHOVIES
Good news for those of you deep in the tinned fish trend. (Me, too.) Not only are these the easiest hors d’oeuvres to whip up, but they’re packed with skin-loving nutrients, too.
WALNUTS
My favorite nut when it comes to skin. Walnuts are packed with healthy omega-3s and fiber, which you know I love for acne-prone skin.
CHIA SEEDS + FLAXSEEDS
Packed with omega-3s and easy to throw on nearly any meal — what’s not to love about these power seeds?
CAVIAR
Last, but certainly not least, the fanciest food of all. I’ve been loving Pearl Box in SoHo if you need a night of utter decadence — for your skin of course.
